Slammed 2016

POETRY IN SCHOOLS! In 2015 QPF launched the first ever inter-school slam in QLD.
SlammED! 2016 will see ten SE QLD schools slam off at the final at QPF.

SlammED! 2016 is again proudly co-presented by State Library of Queensland, building on the pioneering education program created by poets David Stavanger & Pascalle Burton. SlammED! 2016 will see Kelvin Grove State School’s Simon Kindt (a local poet himself) come back on board as SlammED! Project Officer, helping QPF liaise with the ten schools and building on his previous work in getting poetry & spoken word into QLD schools.

Kelvin Grove State College, Music Industry College, Brisbane State High School, Kedron State High School, Brisbane Girls Grammar, North Lakes College, Forrest Lake State High, Marsden State High School,  A.B  Paterson, and Runcorn High. From there the top two students from each school heat will then move onto a poetry masterclass on Saturday 20th August 10am-1pm @ The Edge then on to the big SlammED! final at the Queensland Poetry Festival in the Judith Wright Centre of Contemporary Arts on Saturday 27th August 10am – 11.30am. The final will be held in the JWCOCA main theatre and hosted by Simon Kindt. It will also feature an international guest spoken word artist.
